Music By the Canal Tour – New Music Event, Birmingham Canals


Using the Midlands waterways as inspiration and a boat as a touring music platform, Music by the Canal celebrates three   wonderful Midlands artists who will perform a special new-music commission.

Music by the Canal is an enchanting boat trip along the most beautiful stretch of Midlands’s canal with live musical performances by some of the city’s most spellbinding talent. Creating an entirely new repertoire for the pop-up shows, inspired by their impressions of canal life and celebrating the second largest city in the UK.

Travel around Birmingham’s Central Canals and travel out into the Greenery of England’s Second City while being entertained with the beautiful overtones of Spoken Word artist Amerah Saleh, singer and songwriter Alisha Yasmin Kadir and musician Raju Mali.

Shanti’s New Music Live

New Music Show & Club Night, Alfie Birds


Multi award-winning Shaanti and the Eastern Electronic Festival are proud to present Shanti’s New Music Live, an exclusive event specially produced for the festival.

Showcasing exciting new music commissions will be the crème de la crème of progressive artists including: Nathan Flute Box Lee, The Clinic, Arun Ghosh, Sonic Boom feat. Surinder Sandhu, Jason Singh and Abrar Hafiz. Supported by My Panda Shall Fly and guests.

Giving power to artists to create new music helps support, inspire and develop an independent music scene. This unique event has been designed through feedback and communication with the community to determine what gaps in the UK music scene needed to be filled. This tightly packed and stimulating programme of progressive artists will showcase the best new music live on the international arts scene.

Sita Sings The Blue

Sita is a goddess separated from her beloved Lord and husband Rama. Nina is an animator whose husband moves to India, then dumps her by email. Three hilarious shadow puppets narrate both ancient tragedy and modern comedy in this beautifully animated interpretation of the Indian epic Ramayana. Set to the 1920’s jazz vocals of Annette Hanshaw, Sita Sings the Blues earns its tagline as “the Greatest Break-Up Story Ever Told.”

From dancing with your baby to hearing the notes of your child’s first composition, Spring Jam is a special place for you and your child to play, sing, giggle and dance together.

At Spring Jam, we know that music is fundamental to a young child’s development. Our progressive and educational workshops are designed to nurture a lifetime of music; here we use a combination of original and traditional songs and rhymes to develop early communication skills as well as introduce new rhythms in a special Indian Tabla class, for each separate age group.

Taste & Liquor Sessions hit Birmingham’s chic Nuvo, in partnership with Hed Kandi Worldwide Resident DJ, Stuart Ojelay.

Taste & Liquor Session is a new and exciting support platform for contemporary and electronic music, exploring the best music events around the region.

The Taste & Liquor Sessions are proud to present DJ Ninja. Born in the 80s, Ninja is a DJ, race car driver and music producer who grew up in London but attributes the inspiration for her unique musical sound to her roots in Pakistan. Her productions have been played on dance-floors from Ibiza to East Africa since 2009 and just last year, she enjoyed successful residencies in Blue Marlin and Privilege in Ibiza.

So come down and sample Taste & Liquor’s eclectic range of cocktails and see the sensational DJ Ninja making her debut appearance in Birmingham along­­­side Stuart Ojelay, Becki De Funk and Ben Jammin LIVE on Sax.

Baby Got Groove – Bollywood Party!

Baby Disco-Party, Fredericks Coffee and Lounge Bar


Set in one of Birmingham’s top venues Baby Got Groove Disco is a daytime disco-party for parents with babies, toddlers and children up to 7 years old.

For this special occasion, as part of the Eastern Electronic Festival, the party will take you on a disco journey spinning lashings of Bollywood, pop, rock, soul, funk, club classics and more! All set at a baby friendly level, this retro disco will make those tiny tots of all ages get into the ‘desi groove’.

Not only that, Baby Got Groove Disco will provide the little ones plenty of activities including:

  • a baby-play area

    * a chill-out reading zone
    * bubble machines
    * an arts and colouring-in area
    * a face painter
    * tons of balloons to play with
    * and an special music entertainer
