Versatile British Asian international saxophonist - dedicated to opening up the valves of all things house and disco by teaming up with world's best DJ's in and breathing new improvised concepts into cutting-edge music; blowing down the musical boundaries. For the audition, he will be accompanying a backing track. His style of performance is different in that accompanies dance music in order to build on the dynamics in the recorded music. It's an unusual concoction, but definitely seems to strike a chord with dance music lovers the world over.
Having spent time in Ibiza last summer where he performed some amazing sets with world class DJs at super clubs for the likes of Hed Kandi and Fierce Angel. Trav also hooked up with Groove Armada again in Cafe Savannah on the sunset strip! His last collaboration with them was at The Picture House in Edinburgh on NYE 2008.
For him, the music and performance comes first for me, and whether you'll find him grooving the stage with a top Funk/Soul act as much as sliding shoulder to shoulder, sax in hand, through the hottest dance-floors, he aims to make his shimmer of gold the object of audience attention - to gain respect from the serious clubber to the laidback blues-cat.
In Edinburgh, where he reside, Trav focus on producing a groundbreaking fusion of nu-disco and soulful asian dance, whilst teaching the sax and running a rock school, with my wife, for kids where I now have over 25 young students! Although he cherishs performing on huge stages in fronts of thousands of music lovers, he has a love for more intimate environments where he can get the music right through the heart of dance-floor! Gasping for air in these enclosed spaces, feeling the heat and pulse of the sound and clubber united, Trav uses his extensive yet expanding music knowledge to break down and play with tracks sometimes heard for the first time! A dangerous occupation for the less confident out there…
In the past, he's been invited to perform alongside legendary giants of soulful house DJs'/Producers at many memorable events, including: Kerri Chandler, Onsulade, Joey Negro, Dimitri from Paris and Quentin Harris (Bacardi B-Live Events including T In The Park 2006), Karizma, Joe Cutler and Ron Carroll (Southport Weekender). Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez (Masters At Work), Aaron Ross (Radio 1), Bobby Friction and Sonny Ji (BBC Asian Network). On numerous occasions, saXingh has teamed up with the charismatic virtuoso percussionist, Shovell (M-People). Shovell has toured the world and performed at the biggest clubs.
Current Hed Kandi and Fierce Angel sessions with global DJ’s though Fresh Artiste Management has seen him perform in Nantes (France), Geneva (Switzerland), Penang (Malaysia), Bogota (Colombia), Seoul (South Korea) since being signed to the management company, Aswell as performances throughout the UK at top clubbing institutions, including Pacha in Central London, I continue to keep a busy schedule in Ibiza this summer with bookings at various events.
At the moment, I'm working on projects aimed at spicing up the current British-Asian LIVE music scene by introducing a fresh and soulful style of over cleverly produced ethno-funk grooves with live instrumentation, free improvisation and European influences. For example, I performed on the Champion Sounds Stage for the Shaanti 11 years celebration of cross-cultural music on 12 June 2010 in London.
